Daughter of a Jamaican mother and a Puerto Rican/Chinese father is how the creative name "Blackspanese” was born. Blackspanese was born and raised in Toronto, where she grew up singing with her church choir. Her passions for music lead her to Don Valley Junior High School where she studied Vocal and String music.
