Kevorkian would use either a Thanatron or Mercitron—euthanasia machines designed to allow the patient to take the final actions towards their death—but in Youk’s case this was difficult. Kevorkian injected him and then went on 60 Minutes to broadcast his death—events which landed him in jail. HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack was an interesting foray into the life of Dr. Death prior and up to this event a man who would not wait for permission to do what he felt was right and fair.
